Bringing it all together…Producer 101

Picture if you will, a great orchestra tuning up before a big performance. Musicians on strings, woodwinds, percussion and various types of brass instruments all playing different notes, warm up scales, random sounds and all of them playing at different tempos. We’ve all heard this “acoustic cacophony” before the beginning of a concert performance or some other show we’ve gone to see. Now enter one person, the one person who brings this disorganized group together, grabs their attention, quiets the commotion and ultimately gets this collection of talented musicians to perform beautiful music together as one team. That one person is the orchestra conductor. Now imagine preparing for a video production. Read the rest of this entry →

Branding bug? – Take a “S.W.O.T.” at it.

Identity – sometimes it’s a difficult chore to discover not only who you are but what you are all about. In business, these same things hold true. An entrepreneur or a new business owner has to have an identity of what their business is and what it does before they can hang their sign, print business cards, or even make that first sales call. Still, at the core of all of this is their identity – the “Who are you?” that maintains the face of the business. Some may say it’s in the name, like Bill’s Roofing, or it’s in the logo, like the Golden Arches. But the more you look at it, your business’ identity is really your brand and how you establish and market your brand to your current and potential customers. Read the rest of this entry →

Location, Location, Location…

You hear the value of that in real estate all the time, but does it hold true in the production world? I say “Absolutely!!” One of the first questions to ask when starting a production is, “Where are we going to shoot that?” Being based here in Northern Indiana certainly has both its advantages and disadvantages. Hawaiian Travels

Every year, winter seems to arrive earlier than it ever had in the past. With the cold, dreary winter days of South Bend upon us, the only way to find the beach and sun was dreaming of it. Well the prayers of a few lucky guys were answered in December, thanks to Upside Marketing! Two members of the PentaVision crew, Ryan Geist & Jon O’Sullivan escaped the winter blues with a trip to Hawaii! Read the rest of this entry →

…Oh, the places we go

The client just called, and said to “go there”
It’s for our new video and it is a must
We load up our camera and lights and the rest
Another great road trip, in this we all trust.

Don’t Fear Using Social Media as a Recruiting Tool

Last week, I was fortunate enough to attend the annual eduWeb Conference held in Chicago. For those of you who are not familiar with this conference, you might take a gander from the two root words, edu (short for education) and web that it might deal with online strategies for the higher education industry. That you are right! As the website states, “The eduWeb Conference is an annual, internationally recognized event for the higher education community, attracting those who are involved in online strategy, marketing and technology.” Read the rest of this entry →

Tell Me a Story…

Storytelling1

I, like most people, enjoy a great movie.  The ones that I find most memorable are the ones that tell a great story, like:

“Little Miss Sunshine”

Welcome!

Greetings from PentaVision!

We hope this e-mail finds you well.  We would like to take this time to let you know that PentaVision Communications is embarking on a new venture designed especially for you.

We would like to introduce a quarterly newsletter, entitled, “What’s Your Vision?”  The first edition will be sent out via e-mail to you tomorrow.  The newsletter is an informative tool for you to better understand and/or to inquire about the video production or digital media process.  Our newsletter is designed to address the three key areas of the process:  Pre-production, Production and Post-production and will include short and easy to read articles with additional links to other articles if you desire more knowledge on the subject.

We are also providing you with an opportunity to unsubscribe to our newsletter if you wish.  We understand that you are busy and get inundated with electronic messages, so if this is something that you would rather not receive, please let us know.  If you enjoy receiving “What’s Your Vision?” we have also included an opportunity for you to ask questions, leave comments or provide us with topics that we can cover in future newsletters.  Your voice means a lot to us!

We thank you so much for your support and look forward to hearing from you!

Ryan, Dick, Bob, Phil, Jon, Daniel and Michael
